Scale
Primary Ingredients:
- 2 cups All-Purpose Flour
- 0.5 cup Unsalted Butter
- 0.5 cup Honey
- 1 large Egg
Supporting Ingredients:
- 0.5 cup Light Brown Sugar
- 0.5 cup Granulated Sugar
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
Seasoning and Garnish:
- 1 teaspoon Baking Powder
- 1 teaspoon Baking Soda
- 0.5 teaspoon Kosher Salt
- 4 tablespoons Toasted Sesame Seeds
- 0.25 cup Extra Toasted Sesame Seeds
Instructions
- Blend 2 cups all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon baking powder, 1 teaspoon baking soda, and 0.5 teaspoon kosher salt in a medium mixing bowl. Whisk thoroughly to distribute ingredients evenly.
- Cream 0.5 cup softened unsalted butter with 0.5 cup light brown sugar and 0.5 cup granulated sugar. Mix for 3-4 minutes until the mixture becomes light and fluffy.
- Add 0.5 cup honey, 1 large egg, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Blend until all ingredients are smoothly incorporated.
- Gradually fold dry ingredients into the wet mixture. Stir until a consistent dough forms. Mix in 4 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds.
- Wrap the dough and refrigerate for 2 hours or overnight. Cold dough helps prevent spreading during baking.
- Heat oven to 350°F. Roll 1.5-tablespoon dough portions in 0.25 cup extra toasted sesame seeds. Place on a lined baking sheet, leaving space between cookies.
- Bake at 350°F for 10-12 minutes. Look for golden edges and soft centers as your doneness indicator.
- Rest cookies on the baking sheet for 5 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack and let them cool completely before serving.
Notes
- Toasting sesame seeds beforehand brings out their nutty flavor and adds a gorgeous golden color to your cookies.
- Chilling the dough helps prevent spreading and creates a more dense, chewy texture that holds its shape perfectly.
- For gluten-free adaptation, swap all-purpose flour with a 1:1 gluten-free baking blend to keep the same delicious results.
- When measuring flour, always spoon it into the measuring cup and level with a knife to ensure accurate proportions and prevent dense cookies.
