Creamy cheesecake filling and fresh strawberry swirls nestled inside tender, buttery rolls create a delicious morning surprise your family will absolutely devour.

Ingredients

Scale

Dough Ingredients:

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup warm milk
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 egg yolk
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Filling Ingredients:

  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • ⅓ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup strawberry jam
  • ½ cup diced fresh or frozen strawberries

Glaze Ingredients:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • ⅔ tablespoons milk
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ tablespoon cream cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast by whisking ¾ cup warm milk (110F) with 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast and a pinch of sugar. Allow mixture to foam for 5-7 minutes.
  2. Pour in ¼ cup sugar, 1 egg, 1 egg yolk, and ¼ cup melted butter into the yeast mixture. Blend thoroughly.
  3. Incorporate 3 cups flour and ½ tsp salt into the wet ingredients. Knead for 8 minutes until your dough feels smooth and elastic.
  4. Transfer dough to a greased bowl. Cover and let rise in a warm spot for 1-1 ½ hours until volume doubles.
  5. Beat 8 oz softened cream cheese with ⅓ cup powdered sugar and 1 tsp vanilla until silky and uniform.
  6. Roll out dough into a 12×16 inch rectangle. Spread cream cheese mixture evenly across surface.
  7. Dollop ½ cup strawberry jam over cream cheese. Scatter ½ cup diced strawberries across the dough.
  8. Roll dough tightly from the long side into a log. Slice into 12 equal rounds using dental floss.
  9. Arrange rolls in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish. Let them rise for 30-45 minutes.
  10. Heat oven to 350F. Bake rolls for 25-28 minutes until golden brown.
  11. Prepare glaze by mixing 1 cup powdered sugar, 2-3 tbsp milk, and ½ tsp vanilla until smooth.
  12. Drizzle warm glaze over fresh-baked rolls. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Test yeast freshness before starting to ensure your dough rises perfectly and creates soft, fluffy rolls.
  • Allow dough to rise in a draft-free, warm spot like near a preheated oven to help it expand properly.
  • Use room temperature cream cheese for a smoother filling that spreads evenly without lumps.
  • When cutting rolls, use unflavored dental floss for clean, precise slices that keep the filling intact.
