Description

Fresh blueberry brownies bring pure chocolatey summer delight to your dessert table. Loaded with juicy berries and rich chocolate, these treats will make your friends and family beg for seconds.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients:

  • 1¼ cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1½ cups blueberries
  • 2 large eggs
  • 10 tablespoons unsalted butter

Supporting Ingredients:

  • ½ teaspoon sea salt
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Glaze Ingredients:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • ⅛ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Pulverize 1½ cups blueberries in a blender until completely smooth.
  2. Transfer blueberry puree to a saucepan. Simmer at medium-low heat for 8-10 minutes, stirring continuously until reduced to ½ cup. Cool the reduction completely.
  3. Position your oven rack in the middle position. Preheat to 325°F. Line an 8×8 glass baking dish with parchment paper, ensuring corners are covered.
  4. Whisk 10 tablespoons melted butter with 1¼ cups granulated sugar in a medium bowl. Add 2 large eggs, ½ teaspoon vanilla extract, and ½ teaspoon sea salt. Mix until ingredients are thoroughly incorporated.
  5. Fold the cooled blueberry reduction into your butter mixture until evenly distributed.
  6. Sift 1 cup all-purpose flour into the wet ingredients. Gently stir until just combined, avoiding overmixing.
  7. Pour batter into prepared baking dish. Spread evenly using a spatula.
  8. Bake for 35-40 minutes at 325°F. Check doneness at 30 minutes by inserting a toothpick – it should come out with minimal crumbs.
  9. Allow brownies to cool completely in the pan for approximately 1 hour.
  10. Prepare glaze by whisking 1 cup powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons milk, ⅛ teaspoon vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until smooth.
  11. Spread half the glaze over cooled brownies. Wait 10 minutes for first layer to set.
  12. Add second glaze layer. Let harden for 15 minutes before cutting into 16 squares.
  13. Store brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.

Notes

  • Let the blueberry reduction cool completely before mixing into the batter to prevent scrambling the eggs.
  • Check brownies early and often, as oven temperatures vary and overcooking can make them dry and crumbly.
  • Use fresh, ripe blueberries for the most intense flavor and deep purple color in your reduction.
  • When spreading glaze, work slowly and use an offset spatula for smooth, even coverage across the brownies.
