Ingredients
Scale
Main Ingredients:
- 2 large eggs
- ½ cup (115g) unsalted butter, melted
- ½ cup (50g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- ¾ cup (95g) all-purpose flour
- ½ cup (100g) granulated sugar
- ½ cup (110g) packed brown sugar
Flavor Enhancers:
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup chocolate chips
Peanut Butter Swirl:
- ½ cup creamy peanut butter
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
- 1–2 tablespoons milk
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare an 8×8-inch pan with parchment paper, creating small overhangs for easy removal later.
- Melt 115g unsalted butter in a large mixing bowl. Whisk in 100g granulated sugar and 110g brown sugar until the mixture looks smooth and glossy.
- Crack 2 large eggs into the sugar mixture. Add 1 tsp vanilla extract and blend thoroughly until completely combined.
- Sift 50g cocoa powder, 95g all-purpose flour, and ¼ tsp salt into the wet ingredients. Fold gently with a spatula until no dry streaks remain. Optional: Stir in ½ cup chocolate chips.
- In a separate small bowl, combine ½ cup creamy peanut butter with 2 Tbsp powdered sugar. Add 1–2 Tbsp milk to create a spreadable consistency.
- Transfer brownie batter to the prepared pan, spreading evenly with a spatula. Dollop peanut butter mixture across the surface.
- Use a butter knife to create swirling patterns, mixing the peanut butter through the chocolate batter to achieve a marbled effect.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes at 350°F (175°C). Check doneness with a toothpick—it should have a few moist crumbs when removed.
- Allow brownies to cool in the pan for 20–30 minutes. Lift out using parchment paper overhangs.
- Refrigerate for 15–20 minutes to help achieve clean, precise cuts when slicing into squares.
Notes
- Check brownie doneness by inserting a toothpick near the center, which should come out with a few moist crumbs.
- Natural peanut butter works best for maintaining a rich, authentic flavor without excess sweetness.
- Chill brownies completely before cutting to ensure clean, precise slices and prevent crumbling.
- For gluten-free options, substitute all-purpose flour with a cup-for-cup gluten-free baking blend to keep the same rich texture.
