Description

Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars bring pure comfort straight from my kitchen to yours. Craving a quick dessert that delivers maximum flavor with minimal effort? These bars melt in your mouth and disappear faster than you can grab a plate.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients:

  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips (340g)
  • 2 and ¼ cups all-purpose flour (270g)
  • ¾ cup unsalted butter, melted (170g)
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar (220g)
  • ½ cup granulated sugar (100g)
  • 2 large eggs, at room temperature

Supportive Ingredients:

  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

Seasoning:

  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare the oven at 325°F (163°C) and position a rack in the middle. Coat a 9×13-inch baking pan with non-stick spray or parchment paper for smooth removal.
  2. Blend 2 ¼ cups (270g) all-purpose flour, ½ teaspoon baking soda, and ½ teaspoon salt in a medium bowl. Whisk thoroughly to distribute ingredients evenly.
  3. Melt ¾ cup (170g) unsalted butter. Pour into a large mixing bowl and combine with 1 cup (220g) brown sugar and ½ cup (100g) granulated sugar until glossy and smooth.
  4. Incorporate 2 room-temperature large eggs and 2 teaspoons vanilla extract into the butter-sugar mixture. Whisk until completely integrated.
  5. Fold dry ingredients into wet ingredients with a spatula. Mix gently until flour disappears – avoid overmixing your batter.
  6. Add 2 cups (340g) semi-sweet chocolate chips. Stir to distribute chips throughout the dough evenly.
  7. Transfer dough to prepared pan. Press mixture into corners and smooth the surface using a spatula.
  8. Optionally, press a few extra chocolate chips on top of the dough for visual appeal.
  9. Bake for 28-32 minutes until edges turn golden and center shows just a few moist crumbs when tested.
  10. Remove from oven and let bars rest in pan for 30 minutes. Refrigerate briefly for cleaner cutting if desired.
  11. Slice into squares or rectangles once completely cooled.

Notes

  • Check your butter temperature to ensure it’s properly melted but not hot, which helps create that soft, chewy texture.
  • Use room temperature eggs for better ingredient integration and a smoother batter consistency.
  • When mixing dry and wet ingredients, stir gently to avoid developing tough gluten that can make bars dense and hard.
  • For gluten-free adaptation, swap all-purpose flour with a cup-for-cup gluten-free blend and add 1/4 teaspoon xanthan gum for better structure.
